I know a bunch of you knew Jerry jerrymcl89 from BAPS/Buffy fandom and Angel/Cordelia fandom and sports and politics and all the fandom stuff he was wonderfully part of.

I just received an e-mail from his sister that he passed away suddenly a few days ago; they don't exactly know why yet. She said I should post the news online so you all would know. Please feel free to share in communities where you knew he hung out and where you think people would want to know.

I am so sick with sadness. I'm going to miss him so much. I wish I could go to his wake or funeral, but just a bit too far.

I'm still wrecked over this. He was one of the good people of this world. He could disagree with you without making you feel stupid, he could make you see the other side when you were insisting your way was the only way, and he had a dry, matter-of-fact humor that could lighten up any tense discussion.

Everything Fen said. I just...don't even have words. He hadn't posted much lately, but every so often he'd turn up and comment, and I was always glad to see him. It's very hard to believe the last time was the last time.

Oh my God, how horrible. He was never one of my LJ friends but I used to enjoy reading his very thoughtful, even-handed comments on various fandoms and TV shows when he posted on my friends' LJs. He must have been young. This is awful. I'm so sorry for his family.

Was it the Chicago con or the Tampa con where we were all sitting out by the pool? I remember us all at 1 con together

I wrote to the email addresses I have for Chen, but I'm not sure how else to get in touch with her.

It was the Vulkon in Tampa where we hung out by the pool, and there was also a big party for Jerry and Kelly (I think it was Jerry's birthday and Kelly's baby shower?). Jerry was also at the first Writercon.

He was such a kind, thoughtful person. I'm really going to miss him.

But thank you so much for sharing this horrible news with us. I can't stomach the thought of never knowing what happened to him if he merely vanished from LJ.

He was a gentle, wonderful guy, and I still cherish the birthday party/baby shower we shared at a con in 2003.

He was too young, and I will miss him.

Wendy, do you know if anyone has contacted LiveJournal to get them to turn Jerry's LJ into a memorial account so that it'll never get deleted? I remember people did this for thamiris a few years ago. Let me know if you know anything about this, or if not, I can see about contacting them...
